Women in Technology and Science (WITS) is a national independent voluntary organisation, founded in November 1990 by the late Mary Mulvihill. 

Mary Mulvihill (1959-2015) was a renowned Irish scientist, radio and television presenter, author and educator.

Mary studied genetics and statistics at Trinity College Dublin, and journalism in Dublin City University. She worked as a freelance writer and broadcaster, creating several popular science series for RTÉ Radio 1 and Lyric FM.

Mary was the founder and first chairperson of Women in Technology and Science (WITS), an advocacy and networking group for women in STEM fields in Ireland and was featured in Silicon Republic's 100 Top Women in STEM list. She is widely regarded as a pioneer of science communication in Ireland and was a passionate advocate for women in STEM.
