June 2022
- Google Summer Insights virtual series will take place between Tuesday 26th - Thursday 28th July 2022. Registrations are now live for the series, for both technical and non-technical students! This program is committed to showcasing representation in the tech industry, and helping you to prepare for your future career. Learn more here.
May 2022
- New mentoring scheme. Stemettes is a UK organisation that engages, inspires, and educates young women into STEM/STEAM careers. They have collaborated with the Avantor Foundation to deliver a new mentoring programme with a view to encouraging with young women and non-binary people in Ireland to consider STEM careers. More here. Applicants who are eligible (ages 15 - 21 living in Ireland) will be matched with highly qualified mentors working in the STEAM sector who will provide valuable advice and support along their career paths. The programme runs from May - August 2022 and applications are open now.
April 2022
- Mary Mulvihill Award for 3rd level students is open. Get your submissions on the theme of water in by the closing date of 29 April 2022.
- The IRC-ESO Studentship Programme is now open, offering an Ireland-based PhD student the opportunity to train at the European Southern Observatory. Former awardee Jessica Erkal talks about her experience. More information here.
- 30% Club Scholarship – Full Scholarship at National College of Ireland - scroll down to see it. Commencing in September, one female candidate will receive a fully funded place on any full- or part-time Master's course in NCI’s School of Computing. Presented in association with The 30% Club, this scholarship addresses the under-representation of women in postgraduate STEM education.

- Aer Lingus are currently recruiting for an Entry Level Software engineer. Applications are now open here!
- Future Human 2022 on 12, 13 May 2022 in Dublin is seeking volunteers for the event. Apply here. You must be over 18 on 7 May 2022 to apply.

February 2022
- Patch 2022 now open for applications. Patch is a 6-week long summer accelerator for 16 - 21 year old aspiring entrepreneurs, technologists, scientists, and engineers. You’ll spend your time at Patch: Working on an ambitious project (2020 projects here), Forming life-long connections with an energetic group of peers, Receiving 1:1 mentorship from experts in Stripe, Intercom, and Dogpatch Labs, and Learning from founders such as Des Traynor (Intercom), and Iseult Ward (FoodCloud). Past projects built at Patch include: MIRR - Touchscreen smart mirror, Cropsafe - Farm management software using satellite imagery and AMSIMP - Open source atmospheric modelling using AI. Applications are now open for the 2022 programme and we strongly encourage you to apply! All expenses are covered and there’s a weekly bursary available to all participants. The deadline is February 20th, 2022 at midnight. You can apply through this form, and more info can be found atjoinpatch.org.
- PhD positions now available with the Irish Photonics Integration Centre (IPIC). There are 5 PhD positions with the Photonic Integration and Advanced Data Storage Centre for Doctoral Training (PIADS-CDT) and the students will be based in Tyndall National Institute. PIADS-CDT is a cohort training programme in collaboration with IPIC, Queen’s University Belfast and University of Glasgow. It aims to tackle some of the challenges created by the increasing quantities of data generated by today’s society. December 2021
- Tyndall National Institute 2022 Internship Programme now open for applications. Tyndall, IPIC, MCCI & IERC are offering a generous, competitive internship programme for all undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics hoping to gain insight into a research environment. This internship provides the opportunity to work with world-class research teams in an immersive research experience. Interns will undertake a 12-week research project between June and August 2022 complemented by a development programme in which students will learn about communication skills and research commercialisation among much more. This programme is open to undergraduate students from Irish-based universities and institutes of technology and will provide 25 internship places for the 2022 programme. Applications close 31st January 2022. To apply for this programme applicants can fill out the expression of interest form here. Students are invited to an Information Open Evening on Thursday 16th December at 5pm to learn more about the programme and research at Tyndall National Institute, including IPIC, IERC and MCCI. Students can register here. The event will be recorded and distributed if students are unable to make it.

- 29 March 2021 Applications close for Patch, a 6 week long summer accelerator for 16 – 21 year olds. It runs from July 7th - August 18th 2021. Participating teams spend the summer working on a chosen project, getting to know a group of peers and learning from mentors and speakers. WITS member Melissa Walsh writes: We have 5 PhD positions available for the prestigious PIADS programme that will commence in September 2021, covering a range of Photonics Themes: Biomedical, Optical Communications, Packaging & Hybrid Integration, and Monolithic & Heterogeneous Integration. The successful candidates will join a vibrant student cohort and well-established Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) at the Irish Photonics Integration Centre (IPIC) in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) in partnership with Queens University Belfast and the University of Glasgow.
